Health & Safety Specialist

Our client, a leading manufacturing company based in Shannon, Co. Clare, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Specialist to join their Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) team. This is an excellent opportunity for an EH&S professional to play a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and continuously improving manufacturing environment.
The Role
Based at the company's Shannon production facility, you will support the site's EH&S programme, ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation while driving continuous improvement and promoting a strong Zero Harm culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and coordinate assigned elements of the site's EH&S programme and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop, implement and maintain EH&S management systems, policies, procedures and work instructions in line with legislative and business requirements.
- Support EH&S activities including audits, risk assessments, compliance monitoring and reporting.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of Annual Environmental Reports (AER) and Environmental Performance Reports (EPR) to the Environmental Protection Agency.
- Investigate EH&S incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 management systems.
- Coordinate statutory health, safety and environmental training across the site.
- Support site business units on EH&S projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the management of the site's Emergency Response Team.
About You
You will have:
- A relevant qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in an EH&S role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- A good understanding of EH&S legislation, management systems and regulatory compliance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Excellent leadership, training and presentation skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
