    Product Engineer - CLARE

    eFlexes Recruitment is currently hiring for the position of Product Engineer on behalf of our well-established client in the aviation industry, based in Shannon, Co. Clare.

    The Product Engineer is responsible for providing the required technical support to the production team to deliver a high-quality, competitive, and profitable product. This role works closely with the Operations Team to ensure product compliance, product quality, process improvements, turnaround time (TAT) reduction, and technical support.


    Responsibilities and Tasks

    Including but not limited to the following:

    Product Compliance

    • Provide adequate work instructions via Routers and Operations Sheets to ensure requirements are clearly specified.

    • Review ESM and RD documents to identify and implement changes that affect company products, in accordance with company Documentation Review Procedures.

    • Audit the repair process to ensure compliance with specified procedures.

    Product Quality

    • Promote the application of best practices to deliver robust repair processes.

    • Establish and implement CTQ (Critical to Quality) metrics to monitor process stability.

    • Define daily, weekly, and monthly TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) checks with the Maintenance team.

    • Lead investigations into process issues and implement corrective actions where deviations occur.

    • Investigate and issue written reports on non-conformances related to product quality.

    Process Improvements (Product Cost / Profitability)

    • Identify and evaluate opportunities for cost improvements in product repair to achieve set targets.

    • Obtain internal and external approvals for process improvement changes.

    • Measure and monitor rework costs and root causes, working with the team to achieve target reductions.

    • Measure and monitor scrap rates and identify contributing factors to minimise waste.

    • Define specifications for new equipment purchases or modifications and sign off on qualifications and acceptance.

    • Implement process improvements and track the successful achievement of cost-saving initiatives.

    Turnaround Time (TAT) Reduction

    • Identify and evaluate opportunities to reduce TAT and meet agreed targets.

    • Implement and monitor the effectiveness of TAT improvement initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

    Technical Support

    • Issue Inspection Reports to customers.

    • Provide technical support to:

      • Team members (e.g., part disposition)

      • Commercial teams (e.g., defining work scopes)

      • Quality teams (e.g., investigating warranty returns)

      • Production teams (e.g., procuring equipment, supporting maintenance)


    Education and Requirements

    • Degree in Materials or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).

    • 5+ years of experience in an engineering role.

    • Strong understanding of complex, multi-disciplinary processes.

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Confident and effective decision-making ability.

    • Methodical and structured approach to process stability using Lean / Six Sigma methodologies.

    • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

    • Proven success in solving problems within complex environments.

    • Experience in coordinating and overseeing project activities is essential.

    • High attention to detail and proficiency in documenting processes.
